Fraud Blocker Eleanor Nolan - Best Therapies
She/Her/Hers
LCSW

I am open to new clients at this time.

Hi! I’m Eleanor, and I’m a licensed clinical social worker. Before becoming a therapist, I spent some years working within the disability community across the lifespan and through various organizations, both in the San Francisco Bay Area and Chicagoland. My work ranged from advocacy and policy to special education and direct carework. I bring these experiences and my admiration for social justice into my work now.

As a clinician, I firmly believe that the most effective change in therapy is able to happen when there is a strong therapeutic relationship. While I individualize my approach to each person, I broadly aim to help my clients respond more compassionately and flexibly to difficult feelings, thoughts, and experiences and live a life that has meaning to them. I am warm, honest and collaborative with my clients. I love to learn and value giving my clients education on resources or concepts when it relates to our work together. I utilize aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), DIR-Floortime and play therapy–and, of course, a healthy dose of humor.

I love working with both queer and neurodivergent individuals, especially individuals who are just beginning to explore or understand their identities or may have doubts about if their experiences are “enough.” Many of my clients struggle to trust or listen to themselves and may have difficulty expressing their needs or setting boundaries. Additionally, I specialize in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I have experience in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and ACT for OCD. Additionally, I often use Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), which is another effective treatment for OCD that focuses on slowing down and understanding the cognitive processes behind OCD.
