I am not open to new clients at this time. If you'd like help finding another therapist with similar specialties as mine, or to ask about a waitlist, please reach out to team@besttherapies.org.
After a prior career of helping people in university settings, I had an opportunity to receive phenomenal counseling which forever shifted my professional ambition and goals. In my experience, change and personal growth come with guidance and training as well as support and understanding. That is what I can offer to anyone that would like to work with me.
I specialize in working with individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder, those in the kink and poly communities, LGBTQ2IA individuals, and professionals in high-stress work environments (such as doctors, nurses, lawyers, salespeople, engineers, and publicists to name a few). I am a member of Chicago Kink and Poly Aware Therapists (KPACT) as well as several similar national organizations.
I am a graduate of DePaul University with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and years ago in my “past life” I completed a law degree. Prior to Best Therapies I worked as an individual and group psychotherapist at a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) practice in Chicago. I am trained in DBT and I employ its skills and concepts along with Narrative Therapy to help each client reframe their lived experience in a kinder, more forgiving light. Ultimately, I hope to help each individual I work with to find meaning in their life and to gather the tools and resources necessary to pursue those things that matter most, their “life worth living.” After all, your life shouldn’t be based on what people say you are “supposed to do” or “need to do,” your life should be yours to live in a way that makes you feel the happiest, most authentic, and most complete.
As a member of the kink and poly communities myself and someone with my own mental health journey, I have experienced the confusion, shame, doubt, and anxiety that comes with the process of self-discovery. As your therapist, I cannot promise perfect wisdom and all of the answers. What I can provide though is an abundance of patience, empathy, support, and encouragement. We all have our own journey to walk, and I would be honored for the opportunity to walk alongside you and share in your discoveries.
