Mental Health Therapist- Caray Neal
Sher/Her/Hers
LSW

I am open to new clients at this time.

Welcome! Congrats on taking the first steps to seeking therapy. I know from personal experience, finding an inclusive therapist can be very difficult. As a Black queer woman, finding the right therapist was quite difficult for me as well. I became a therapist to assist in eliminating barriers to intersectional mental health access.

My work experience has varied from children, adolescents, and young adults as well as a wide range of service areas, including mental health, substance abuse, trauma, and community doula work. Through these experiences, I was able to gain professional and personal experience in the barriers that folx experience while getting access to and staying connected with health care and healing.

My experience is in crisis intervention, coping with anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, breaking generational cycles, and PTSD. Through these various work experiences, I have learned to work comfortably and effectively in unpredictable circumstances.

Many Black and Brown folx have trouble finding a therapist that looks like them and attempts to understand them, while working with them on their individualized journey to heal. Offering therapy services through this intersectional lens and coming from a place of inclusivity, and not erasure, is important and personal to me.

My work is heavily rooted in establishing a better understanding of thoughts and behavioral patterns that may have been rooted in previous trauma. I believe that a trauma-informed perspective can be used to explore patterns of thinking, behaviors, and life events that are impacting your growth and help in changing directions.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time in healing community through yoga, meditation and connecting to nature. My greatest hope would be to bring some joy to you while building a meaningful relationship that is focused on connection and mutual respect.
