MSW, Pre-Licensed Therapist

I am not open to new clients at this time. If you'd like help finding another therapist with similar specialties as mine, or to ask about a waitlist, please reach out to team@besttherapies.org.

Hi! My name is Melanie, I am a social worker, pre-licensed therapist and certified sex crisis counselor.

Before starting at Best Therapies, I was an advocate at a sex crisis center and worked with survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones. I understand the impact complex trauma has on the brain/body and our ability to function. I also know that humans are resilient, and we can not only survive these experiences but thrive through the healing process.

I can acknowledge that traditional talk therapy does not work for everyone. However, I believe our voices are among the most influential tools we harness. There is a reason we are socialized to bury the parts of ourselves we fear, because there is power in the ability to talk about our deepest insecurities and traumas. My goal in both individual and couples therapy is to bring that fear to the surface, because I believe that is the best way to conquer it.

I always utilize a client-led, sex-positive, kink-positive, body-positive, anti-oppression, and gender-affirming lens in session. I do not use just one modality at a time, I often utilize a blend of skills from various therapeutic techniques dependent on the client(s), their needs, and what works for them.

I know that navigating the world right now is scary for many of us, and we all need every ounce of support and community we can access. Therapy should be taken seriously, but it should also be fun and rewarding. The best way to rebel and be radical is to be joyful!
