Queer Therapist in Chicago, IL - Samuel Irvine
He/Him/His
Intern

I am open to new clients at this time.

We each have the power to create a life that honors us, and sometimes we need a little help navigating the process. In our work together, we will explore the landscape of our experience and the parts of ourselves that bring about challenges in our lives. Nothing is wrong with you: you are simply dealing with challenges the best way you know how. Sometimes our previously successful methods of coping become outdated and just do not work anymore.

As a queer therapist, I feel very strongly about creating a safe space for you to show up as your authentic self with all your complexities and intersecting identities. I believe my role as a therapist is to treat folks who entrust me with their story as the experts of their own lived experiences. In therapy, I endeavor to dismantle the hierarchy of expertise where the therapist dictates what mental wellness looks like and instead works to co-create collaborative and meaningful relationships.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and makes use of cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and mindfulness modalities. I work with clients to develop positive and mature relationships with peers and partners, find healing after trauma(s), utilize effective communication skills, navigate sexuality, gender identity concerns, and have a sex-positive attitude – all while expressing their whole selves. My goal is to empower individuals and couples to embrace their unique journeys and vulnerabilities. Together, we can embark on a therapeutic journey that honors the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, fostering a more meaningful and fulfilling life. If any part of my approach resonates with you, please reach out.
